Tuesday so far

I turned off the computer before 11:30 p.m., I think.  I sat up reading Avengers fic, had a midnight snack, and then went to bed around 1:00 a.m. or so, I think.  I don't think it took me long to get to sleep.  I woke up naturally at 9:15 a.m., so that was good.

I read more of Diane Browne as Diana Killian and Diane-as-Josh's replies to readers who pointed out errors in her books.  If you get the geography wrong, it's wrong, just like when you get the history wrong.  Apparently both (or more) personas were in the Professionals (TV show) fandom, writing fic.  I wonder how close the fics are to Dangerous Ground.  Apparently the fifth in the Dangerous Ground series leaves off on a cliffhanger, so I was waiting for the sixth, which hopefully won't end on a cliffhanger.

Later: I went out and about.  I went to Target, and got "Iron Man 3" and a winter hat.  Dad and I went and voted, then journeyed on to a doctor's appointment of his and then to a grocery store near that VA center.  He dropped me off at the library on the way back.  It was "Two for" Tuesday -- two videos for the cost of renting one.  I got "Backdraft" for Dad and "Manor House" for Mom and me.  I walked over to a medical center to get a flu shot, and then met Mom back at the library.  [Added: I saw M.H. at the medical center and asked her about using a yahrzeit candle.]

It was really a pretty busy day for me.

Later still: Mom talked to her stepmother H.  It was a couple of days after the year anniversary of Papa H.'s passing.  Aunt E. had given Mom a yahrzeit candle last year when she and Dad were down in Florida for the funeral.  We lit it on the day of the anniversary, but Mom only kept it lit when people were around and awake.  I knew that traditionally you're supposed to let it burn down.  M.H. said that she and her husband had five cats now -- "Five?" I said -- and that they didn't leave candles unattended.  She said you had to think about safety.  She also said you traditionally lit a yahrzeit candle on the year anniversary on the Jewish calendar but said that we should do what was meaningful to us.  H. had a lot of news about our half-cousins.

Mom and I talked to J.  He caught us up on his news.

Note: This was long before I was using the Internet, but I had met M.H. when I was taking Hebrew lessons.  She was having a belated bat mitzvah, because she hadn't had one as a girl.  I just thought for myself that a well-rounded person should know at least a little Hebrew.

A.J. called, and we played phone tag for a while.   I arranged with her sister B. to get together with her next Thursday.  I still have the first pages from her latest story saved on the computer.
