There were several updates to Avengers fics I'm subscribed to. I read the latest chapter in "Sua Sponte." It was Nook Free Fridays day. I got the book. I got a couple other free ones, too. There was one about Auditory Processing Disorder that was brief and was an ad for the author's non-free books. Still, it's interesting that people are writing about it.
There was another I got just from Smashwords that was an 80+ page, unprofessional review of 50 Shades of Grey. It was very funny, though. It went through chapter by chapter in one part. I can see how what I think is the hideous writing part of the spoof "50 Shades of Purple" is actually from the book, and the parts that diverge are much better writing. Like, I thought that "50 Shades" Phil's mother dropping by was a terrible bit of secondhand embarrassment thrown in, but apparently that happened in the book. I don't really want to read 50 Shades because I've read what practictioners of BDSM describe as much better BDSM books, and my share of bad ones. But it's this cultural phenomenon.
Slightly later: I reread what there is so far of "Fireflies in the Garden," which is an Avengers AU of The Outsiders. Having just seen the movie, I could picture things in the fic better.
I wandered around outside a little. The pineapple sage is blooming. We're supposed to have a killing frost on Sunday, so that will do the pineapple sage in. I want to spray the fuchsias and bring them in before then. The winterberry holly looked good.
Later than that: I read a couple of short stories by Charley Descoteaux. Dreamspinner is having a sale.
Later still: I went to a dance with the Friday Night Friends. It was loud for me, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. A.J. dressed as a fortune-teller. L. dressed as a rapper. Last year she was Elvis.
