Wednesday so far

I went to bed around 1:30 a.m. after finishing Hold Tight Gently.  I woke at 2:30 a.m., but went back to bed.  I guess it didn't take me very long to get back to sleep.  I next woke a couple of minutes before 10:00 a.m., so that wasn't bad.

I need more time to process how I feel about Hold Tight Gently.  It was a fantastic book.  It chronicled the lives of two gay men who had AIDS, and what creative and productive things they managed to accomplish before their lives ended, too soon.  I had vaguely heard of Michael Callen.  I haven't heard his music.  But I hadn't known how much he did as far as educating people about safe sex and HIV/AIDS.  I had heard of Essex Hemphill, and read an essay or so of his, possibly a poem or two before this book.  I hadn't known all he did creatively and his thoughts about black gay men and issues around the black community.  I nearly cried at the stories of their deaths, though I knew they had died.

Slightly later: A.J. had called last night, but I didn't see that she'd called until 10:30 p.m, and that seemed late to call back.  I called back today.  We'll see each other on the Friday Night Friends hayride.

I will likely go to the grocery store soon.

I keep forgetting to post that the butterfly weed is blooming.  It's very pretty.  The mistflower is in full bloom, too, including the blue one that's by the goldenrod that's intermingled into 'Mme. Zoetmans'.

A few hours later: I went to the grocery store.  I got cinnamon chip muffins for Mom (I like them too).  I got pumpkin raisin muffins for myself.

When Mom came home she said the library had gotten four boxes of books as a gift.  She decides what is appropriate to go in the collection.  She decided not to put in Best Lesbian Romance 2007, but brought it home and gave it to me(!).  I suppose she knew I'd read it or find someone who would.

Later: We got pizza from Papa John's, because who knows when the Phillies might win again.  (They won last night.)  I got some editing jobs lined up.  J. and K. may come to visit this weekend for Mom's birthday.

Later still: I read Avengers fic.
