Barnes & Noble is having a reading of To Kill a Mockingbird. I am thinking of going. I also need to see if A. got my texts. We had scheduled a phone chat, but I couldn't hear anything because of the concert before the fireworks. I sent him texts to that effect. It was nice to visit with A.J., though.
Slightly later: A. texted to say he'd gotten my texts. We're going to try again for Wednesday.
Later: I went to Barnes & Noble and was very bad. I got the DVDs of "Vicious," a British TV show. I heard a recording reading To Kill a Mockingbird, but no one was sitting there listening. I didn't want to start listening partway through. I got a new Nook, which was the very bad part of my behavior.
I chatted a little with Riah.
Later still: I chatted with Jamie a little. Mostly I ranted about e-readers. Poor Jamie. Zie mostly reads fan fiction, so nothing I was saying was applicable to zir. I wrote an e-mail to A. telling him all about my e-readers. I wrote to Pred, who was up at some ungodly hour English time, and she said she'd try to write back tomorrow -- or later in her today. She said her new show that she's a fan of is a fantasy Regency sort of thing. Pred said that the language was coming easily to her, from reading Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. I said that Georgette Heyer made words up. Many of the expressions she used weren't actually Regency cant. And all the Regency romance authors borrow from her. Although I guess it doesn't matter if the words are real in fan fic about a fantasy show.
J. sent a video of Morris the dog going after a rabbit. Maybe Morris could have gotten it if he were a whippet, but Morris is a puggle, and at least the pug half of his ancestry was not built for speed. Besides, the rabbit wasn't far from a hole in the fence. I'll have to show Mom and Dad the video.
