I saw that K. had sent a text at 4:00 a.m., but I slept through it. I texted her back at 10:30.
I got the free Nook book.
I called J. and spoke to him a bit. I said for him to tell K. to feel free to text me or call when she woke up. Perhaps we'll visit them next weekend.
I chatted with Jamie a bit.
Later: Mom and I went out shopping. We went to a dollar store, the liquor store, a grocery store and Walgreen's. It was all pretty successful. Mom got her golden sherry and white zinfandel. I introduced Mom to J.-PA, since we went to the grocery store where she works and I saw her. It was very busy there, so we didn't stop to talk then, but J.-PA and I talked a little more while she stocked the shelves by the checkout line we were waiting in.
I called K. at 4:00 p.m. and talked to her for a little while. She just hadn't been able to get to sleep, and she knows that sometimes I'm up late, too, though I'm trying to be better about that. She said she was all right.
I chatted with Riah a bit. There was a lot of discussion about genderqueerness on her Tumblr today. Off Tumblr, I said I preferred fics in which characters were FtM or trans masculine to fics that are simply called fantasy about boys with vaginas (b!p). We discussed how the more realistic fics can trigger dysphoria for some readers. It's not my place to speak for trans people, just like it's not my place to speak for gay men when it comes to m/m romances. I am dubious about people who will condemn a genre of writing without having read any of it, but if someone in a group being written about has read examples of the genre and doesn't like it, their opinion matters more than someone outside the group. People are still going to read and write what they like.
I chatted with Codeman a little bit.
