what's blooming in September

Yesterday, at home: Colchicum blooming.  Pineapple sage in bud.  At church (for potluck supper): goldenrod, lavender, cistus, purple asters, and white mistflower were among the flowers I recognized in the garden there.  There were a number of other plants I didn't recognize -- one blue-flowered with almost a thistle-type shape of flower.
