Saturday

I tried to go to sleep a little after midnight, and couldn't get to sleep.  I tried again closer to 2:00 a.m., and managed that time.  I woke at 8:00, but went back to sleep until 10:00 a.m.  I figured I really should get up then, though I felt a little groggy.

I met up with B. and A.L. a little before 1:00 p.m.  Part of the back road I take down to the Kennett Square area was closed for construction, so Mrs. L. directed me on other back roads.  Her directions were good.  We got to the Brandywine River Museum in decent time.  It's the Brandywine Conservancy that has the native plant sale.  I thought about getting a red native honeysuckle, because they're supposed to be attractive to hummingbirds, but I couldn't think of a good place to plant it, so I put it back.  I ended up getting two red columbines, a witch hazel, a dwarf Iris cristata and a Phlox sublata.

When I got home, Dad said my shipment from Logee's had come.  I'd gotten a blueberry, four dwarf carnations, Canary Island broom, two heliotropes, and a 'True Rose' scented geranium.  The carnations were advertised as fragrant, but were not fragrant.  That was disappointing.  I was glad I'd gotten the pinks from the Tyler Arboretum plant sale, because at least I have some kind of fragrant dianthus now.  The broom actually was fragrant, as was the geranium.  The heliotrope is a kind called "Fragrant White Heliotrope."  If it's not fragrant, that will be more false advertising.  The non-fragrant carnations are Dianthus caryophyllus 'Volcano Red' "Dwarf Carnation Sunflor."

All in all, it was a pretty good day.  It started raining soon after I got everything from Logee's unpacked and gotten the plants from the Brandywine Conservancy sale out of the car.  Logee's says to give their plants a week before planting.  I'll try to get the other plants planted tomorrow or sometime in the coming week.

Later: Mom and I watched "Diva."  Her favorite part was the Diva-Off with Kurt and Rachel singing "Bring Him Home."  I said that was my favorite part, too.  I said that I'd thought right away that Tina touching Blaine when he was passed out from taking cold medicine was creepy.  The opinion I saw on Tumblr was that it was assault, and I agree.  I was surprised that Santana went to New York.  I said to Mom that Santana treated Kurt terribly, in his own home.  I hope that eventually it's just Kurt and Blaine living together, when they're ready.
