Callie did her first thoughts on "Old Dogs, New Tricks." I'm waiting for the Letters from Titan "Random Thoughts," but LfT said she'd need to watch again, not on a livestream, and then do a write-up. It was 3:00 a.m. where she was, somewhere in Europe, I think.
In the afternoon: I planted the little jasmines and the rest of the pansies. I put the New York aster in a big pot for the time being. I've planted just about all I currently have to plant except for the big jasmine, a market pack and a half of begonias, and all those snowdrops. The columbine was still where I planted it. Dad said there were weeds in the crocus garden, and I said there were miniature daffodils in where he was weeding. He used the pitchfork and ended up forking up a few daffodil bulbs in his weeding. I replanted them.
We cut dead branches off the viburnum, and then somehow switched to taking dead canes off the roses. I got my leather gauntlets for that job. Most of the canes we took off were dead. We worked on 'Kazanlik', 'Fantin Latour', 'Maiden's Blush', 'Leda', and the sweet briar by the porch. That sweet briar is the one that bent over in the ice storm. I said that after it was done blooming, we should cut it way back and use a backhoe to move it. Dad said we didn't have a backhoe, and I said maybe we could borrow one.
It was a pretty productive day out in the yard.
