I haven't had flowering tea in a while, but I've tried various herbal teas and tisanes over the last several days. I tried rooibos, which I was okay with, but not terribly enthused about. I had lemon ginger, which I liked. I had some flavored black teas, too. I had Canton Spice, which I wasn't crazy about. I had decaffeinated Victorian Rose. I'm pretty sure I have some caffeinated Victorian Rose tea around, too. I had apple cider tea today, and that was pretty good.
It's very cold today. Dad dug out the path from the front porch to the driveway, and cleared the snow off his car. The professionals came and cleared the driveway between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. The university where Mom works opens at noon, so she said she'd set out early.
I read a bit more of The Blacker the Berry. Emma Lou is dating Alva, though it's not exclusive on his part. He introduces her to some "writers and artists" who seem based on actual people from the Harlem Renaissance. Cora Thurston seems based on Zora Neale Hurston, and Paul on Bruce Nugent. I think Ray Jorgenson may be based on Carl Van Vechten, and Tony Crews maybe on Langston Hughes. I'm not sure about the others. Wallace Thurman was part of that group.
I called S.M. and spoke to her for a bit. She's having some boys in her neighborhood shovel out her driveway, but they hadn't come yet. She didn't think she was going out today, anyway.
I talked with A.C. for about half an hour. She's settling back in in central Pennsylvania.
Later: Mom drove to work, and then found out the university was closed for the day, so she drove back. She wasn't too happy.
I talked to J. for a bit. He said his work was supposed to open at noon, so he went there and then found out they were closed.
I went out briefly to dig snow out from around the front wheels of my car. I was doing this at the same time Dad was using a broom to sweep the snow off the hood of my car, so we weren't really coordinating well there. It was maybe ten degrees F out, so I didn't stay out for a very long time.
Mom and I wound up watching "Acafellas," "Preggers," "The Rhodes Not Taken" and "Vitamin D." I have at other times watched six episodes of Glee in two days, and four episodes in one day, but I was surprised Mom would do it.
