Mom and I went several places. Some of them were her idea, and some of them were my idea, but I was the driver. We went to the dollar store, and I got Dad a Father's Day card. We went to the church my parents attend. They are having a yard sale on Saturday, and we donated some books. They were having a "pre-sale." Mom and I looked around. She said there was something related to Glee on the DVD table. It was the complete first season, for a dollar. I got it. After I make sure the discs work, I'll send it to A. He's been talking about wanting to get DVDs of Glee.
Mom got a Lisa Scottoline book. She lives in southeastern Pennsylvania, and does book signings in the area every so often. We went to S.M.'s, and I dropped off a CD I'd burned. I was happy enough with our trip. All I'd been planning to get was the card for Dad, but now I have something to give A.
We're talking to J. and K. about going to visit them on Friday and staying over until Saturday. They were having a storm, and had gone into the basement. It's a finished basement, with a half-bath. J. said they brought flashlights and snacks down, so I suppose they could be comfortable enough. I'll have to call them and see if the storm has passed through.
S.M. called later and suggested going to the July 3rd fireworks and fountains show at Longwood Gardens. They have fountain displays, and they light them up at night a couple days of the week during the summer. Some weekends they have fireworks displays. The Kennett Symphony Orchestra is playing there a couple of evenings, in the Open Air Theater. One night it's Gershwin, and S.M. is apparently a big Gershwin fan. She said she didn't like to drive at night, and I said I didn't have a problem driving at night. I'm afraid of deer, so I don't take the back roads at night. It's longer to take the highways, but probably safer.
I worked on an editing job I'd volunteered myself for.
I went out briefly to the flowers. 'Maiden's Blush', 'Ispahan' and the Apothecary Rose are still blooming. The tradescantia 'Miss Kate' looks like it has some buds.
I have another editing job to finish up.
Later: I finished up the editing job. One of the Glee complete season one DVD discs is missing, so I can forget about sending it to A. I should have checked while I was at church, but I didn't think of it. I'm a little bummed out. I still want to send him DVDs of the seasons. I'll figure it out.
I read through some of Biyuti's blog entries on the fourth season of Glee. Judging by what they said in the posts, I was e-mailing back and forth constantly with them. I remember e-mailing with them about most of the episodes they posted on. I'd have to look through the e-mails again, but there's probably an embarrassing amount of us talking about how cute Blaine is. I'm sure the e-mails would also show my white and cis privilege. We talked about race, gender and sexual orientation, and their intersections. We talked about Blaine on topics beside how cute he is, and a lot about Unique. We talked about Jake, and how he was getting racist taunting from white kids and prejudice from the Black kids. Much of what I said I also said here.
I looked it up, and I said a lot about the focus in the fourth season on Blaine's behind, and how I didn't mind that focus. I did also talk about other things, but that was prominent.
