I called P. at 10:30 a.m. to see if she wanted to go out. She was in shock that I was ready that early. She was shocked when I said I'd woken at 7:00, too. She'd already done her shopping for the day, though. P. said she was just going to stay home and do laundry in the afternoon.
Mom and I did a couple of errands. We stopped at Barnes & Noble so I could see if the latest Black Dagger Brotherhood book was out. "3/26," said the associate at the information desk. I'll go back then. We went to K-Mart and got short-sleeved blouses. There's a good selection of summer outfits in early spring. I got a pair of denim shorts.
Later: It was somewhat cold out, but I went out and pruned the Apothecary Rose. I'm afraid that the reason some of the canes are grey is rose scale. I cut those canes off. Most of them were dead anyway. There are at least three separate plants of the Apothecary Rose. One is where it was originally planted. Another is in what was a sort-of raised bed I made with boards that had been the sides of a homemade sandbox J. and I had when we were children. Clearly what was left of the boards didn't stop runners from the original plant. There's another small bush in the herb garden that has the canes and leaves of the Apothecary Rose. My bush of 'Rosa Mundi' that's by the vegetable garden has parts that have sported back to the Apothecary Rose, which makes it three and a half bushes of the Apothecary Rose.
I finished up a proofreading job on a novella. I did some laundry. All in all I suppose it was a fairly productive day.
