Today: I sat under the sunlight-effect lamp and read through a blog post on fandom. I read more of Siren Song. I'd forgotten how much I like Roberta Gellis' writing. I knew she was up there among my favorites, but she works in so much information naturally and the writing flows so easily. I'm pretty sure I've read all of the "Song" series. I own at least three.
I read the comments for the 2011 and 2012 AfterElton Hot 100. They were much as I remembered. AE had a lot of haters commenting on those lists, at least for the last couple of years of them. I kind of wish they'd go back to having a poll for men to vote on and a poll for women to vote on, but I realize that leaves out people who don't identify on the gender binary. Letting everyone vote on one poll brought out a considerable amount of misogyny. I can understand gay men wanting a place for themselves, but that's not what AfterElton is anymore. There were always women members. AE still has commentary on pop culture from a gay male perspective.
I'm not sure if I'll go out today. It's pretty foggy. I may do some book shopping. I want to get print copies of The Velvet Rage. I had had a copy, and had put it in my car to pass along to the GLBTQ organization at [local university], but windshield wiper fluid spilled on it. I couldn't give away a blue-stained copy. Now I want to get a copy for myself and a copy for S. There are various other books I want, though some may have to wait until February.
Slightly later: P. called, wanting to go to Wilmington. I told her I could take her. The story is in my "later Sunday" entry.
Much later than that: A. called and we talked for over an hour. He caught me up on his clubbing adventures, and I caught him up on my life.
