Mom and I were out and about today. It was humid and cloudy. It's supposed to be rainy and cold tomorrow, which is a shame, because I'd like to go to Outfest. I don't know if I'll go if it's raining hard.
First we went to the library, and I returned the seventh and eighth books in the John the Lord Chamberlain series. I hadn't read them yet, and I'd had them quite a while. I have a lot of to-be-read books. Sometimes I can read and sometimes I can't. Mostly I just read online any more, though I read short stories here and there. I can't hyperfocus like I could, not for long periods of time. I used to be able to read for hours every day.
We went to Jo-Ann Fabric, which is in [semi-local town] because Mom thought they had pocket calendars there. I like browsing around in there, because they have a lot of neat craft stuff. We didn't browse today, though, just looked at the calendar selection. They didn't have pocket calendars. Next time I go I'll browse around.
We went to a grocery store near there, and then to the grocery store we go to most often. P. wasn't there, but her friend Z. was, and I said hi to Z. While we waited on the grocery store lines, I tried to get the Kindle app on my phone to sync with what I'd read on the Kindle, but didn't have much luck. I got enough of a connection in the second grocery store to take it to the last of the book I'd read, and show other books. I have to learn how to use the Kindle for Windows phones app better.
When we got home, I tried to open Kindle for PC on the computer, and it wouldn't open. I downloaded a few books in my archives into my phone. Samhain seems to have books available for free on Amazon every so often, but not free at the Samhain site directly. I'm not sure what the story is there. When the Ellora's Cave free books promos are running, those books are free on Kindle, too.
Tumblr is down for at least part of the weekend for maintenance. Perhaps it's for the best for my mental equilibrium. There's a lot of lovely Glee meta here and there. Also, I read the comments on "The Break-Up" recap on AfterEllen. Those comments were mostly focused on Brittany and Santana.
Most of the commenters didn't seem to care about Finn and Rachel. There's still a lot of dislike for Finn in those quarters, for him outing Santana. Finn was never supposed to be that nice of a character. He got a lot of lesbians outraged at him for outing Santana. I was mad that "I Kissed a Girl" didn't focus on Santana, but had Finn managing her outing. DG said that "I Kissed a Girl" was about Finn being a shitty ally, but I was still unhappy with him and the focus on him in that episode. There were some AfterEllen commenters on "The Break-Up" recap who cared about Rachel.
Elsewhere I've been reading analysis of what's up with Blaine. I figured that at the least he had a sort of velvet rage (The Velvet Rage by Alan Downs) thing going on. It looks like his damage goes pretty far. As I said in previous posts, I wouldn't be surprised if he kept having hookups. Blaine's attitude towards sex was always very different from Kurt's. He learned about m/m sex on the Internet. As he aged in reverse, he was established as a virgin. Blaine seemed a lot more interested in sex than Kurt did. As I also said, Blaine doesn't think that he matters.
If Blaine hadn't been dating anyone, and was having hookups just because he wanted to have hookups, I would have thought that was normal enough. It seemed a lot more like he had that hookup because he was in a bad mental state. He was sober when he decided to do it. It was all his choice. Blaine said he was lonely, and he's apparently pretty self-destructive at this point, but it was his choice.
Some bloggers are suggesting Blaine should have therapy and meds. While I agree that would help, my guess is that that's not going to happen. Perhaps he'll spiral downward for much of the rest of the season. The teenage fangirls will have plenty more to cry about. I think it could be interesting. I'm sure I'll be sad, too, but it's fiction. It's not like they're going to kill the characters off.
Later: I got The Velvet Rage and read it again. It would explain Blaine's behavior pretty well, actually.
