On a happier note, I got the free books from Ellora's Cave and the free book from ARe. ARe had a note that their site would be down from midnight to five a.m. for maintenance. It was closer to eight or nine that the site became relatively functional. Tomorrow's book is one by B.A. Tortuga. I expect a fun read with similiarities to Sean Michael's writing. There won't necessarily be a whole lot of plot as compared to sex scenes, but that's not something that bothers me like it does some people. This one doesn't seem to have cowboys in it.
S.D. will be here any minute, so I'll vacuum my room this afternoon. I cannot carry the vacuum up and down the stairs by myself. I couldn't before I broke my ankle. She had made a phone case, but I couldn't get the one J. gave me off the phone to get the one she made on. This made the one S.D. made too small. She said she'd make me another one.
I hope to get out to smell the flowers. Maybe after my stomach settles down. My relatively dry cough has turned into a wet cough, and it's all just lovely.
Later: I vacuumed my room. S.D. had made a bigger phone case. My phone fits nicely into that.
I have been reading the "big life, small space" Tumblr all day. This is nothing new for me to be doing, but it is helping me keep my mind occupied when I'm not feeling good.
Slightly later than that: I went out to the lilacs a bit after 4:00 p.m. It's not like they bloom all year. I stopped on my way in to smell the pinks, too, though it seems they'll last some time. I still want to find a source for clove pinks. I'd settle for hybrids that were fairly close to the species in fragrance.
I still can't believe that 'Duchesse de Brabant' is in bud. True, the tea roses were dormant for a total of perhaps two days this winter, but it's still awfully early. I guess tea roses that are fairly pure really will bloom all year in a warm climate.
Around 8:00 p.m.: My voice has been going in and out all day. I haven't lost it for more than a minute at a time, but it's pretty hoarse. Fortunately I didn't have to talk much today. The only person I really needed to talk to was S.D. Sometimes I'll talk to her quite a bit while she's working, but today I tried out the phone case when she told me she'd brought it and thanked her, and told her I was sick, then went back to my room.
I'll text my secret love child. I'm not sure if he'll still be sober, but I should let him know I'm not feeling great.
