Tuesday

Dear Author reviewed Lover Reborn (http://dearauthor.com/book-reviews/overall-b-reviews/b-minus-reviews/review-lover-reborn-by-j-r-ward).  I'm reading various dialogues in the comments of Glee articles on AE.

Later: I paid bills and did laundry.  It was a little warmer outside than it was yesterday.  I weeded a bit and did a little pruning.  With the European roses of the Old Garden Roses, several have a number of canes that looked completely dead yet have leaf buds on them.  All I want to do with them is take the dead wood off, but I'm still trying to wait until they're all leafed out.  The tea roses are fully leafed out.

I went out to the winter honeysuckle, which is also fully leafed out at this point, but still has a few flowers.  The Judd viburnum has more flowers open, but not many yet.  They're in florets, and some are opening at a time while others in the floret are still in bud.  The chocolate mint and spearmint are naturalized near each other in the back yard near the back door.  There's another mint there that might be a mix of the two.  Mints mix easily.  They're like pinks (Dianthus) that way.  The pinks are doing well, still in full bloom.

The grape hyacinths (Muscari) are blooming.  There are some by the mailbox and some by the back door.  The 'Cheerfulness' daffodils are starting to open.  They're at a point in bud where it's hard to tell if they're white or pale yellow.  They might be a mix of 'Cheerfulness' and 'Yellow Cheerfulness'.  I'm pretty sure I got both.  That was years ago.

It was such a mild winter that the rosemary in the rectangular pot is still alive.  I severely cut back the lemon thyme that was in there, too, and I think it's starting to sprout new leaves.  I still have to think about making a fragrant herbs arrangement, but I have several kinds of mint and a couple different lemon-scented herbs.  There's apple mint near the path from the driveway to the front porch.  I have a pretty good collection of plants with pleasantly-scented leaves.  I'll get more as it gets warmer.
