finally something I could tell the bookstore ladies about

James told it so vividly I could just imagine it all: http://eroticjames.livejournal.com/285525.html.  I thought other volunteers at the secondhand bookstore would get a kick out of the story, because it's funny if it's not your kid.  A. doesn't have children, but she read Hard Fall, so she knew the author I was talking about.  L.F. is in her fifties or sixties, and has children.  She said, "See, you tell them something and it goes out of their heads five minutes later."  I think even the ladies in the garden club could relate to that story -- most of them have children and grandchildren.

I told Mom the story.  She's barely over five feet tall, but definitely the Alpha of the household, much as I hate to admit it.  She has a very forceful personality, anyway, and is the one who remembers things and keeps track of everything.  Mom didn't crack up laughing, but she could really identify.  "Why did he throw his bag off the pier in the first place?" she asked.
