It was a pretty nice day outside.  The pineapple sage has been blooming and I cut a flower off the mystery pink rose.

Aside from that, I've been trying to get together lists of free books for those folks who want to try m/m romance.  I've recommended The Syndicate to them, among other things.  J.M. Snyder has quite a number of free short stories out.  I've been recommending Charlie Cochrane's story Blitz, and Ginn Hale's Shy Hunter.  These are all authors we've talked about on the AE m/m romance forum.

Later: I did some editing.  I read Alaskan Wolf, a Harlequin Nocturne with a werewolf.  At least I read a couple of the Harlequin e-books I got out from the library before they were due.  There was a lot going on in this one, what with the suspense plot and werewolves, all in 165 pages.  It was all right.  I was shocked about the first person killed off in the book, one of the good guys.  I couldn't believe they'd do that.  I guess I expect milder from Harlequins.  I don't know if I'd read a Nocturne before, but I don't think so.

Patrick, our hero, kept grinning in the book, even when he'd have no reason at all to grin, considering the circumstances.  He was a special government werewolf agent, and the heroine, Mariah, was a very nosy reporter.  I thought they'd have more long-lasting conflict, and Patrick did get mad at Mariah a few times, but then they would kiss and make up within the next few minutes or a day.

The suspense plot got wrapped up.  I suspected some of the bad guys, but didn't suspect who the main bad guy was.  I don't know.  Perhaps I'm just not familiar enough with the category, though I'm certainly more than familar with werewolf stories.  I don't know if this is typical of Harlequin werewolf stories.  It was decent enough.  I think Patrick's background would have made more sense if I'd read Alpha Wolf, which was published earlier, first.  Alaskan Wolf was listed as the first one In the series, though, at least on Goodreads.

I certainly don't regret getting it as a library book.  It was interesting to see the Harlequin version of a werewolf story.
