I went out to enjoy my scented-leaved plants. I particularly like the spearmint, though the various herbs with lemon-scented leaves are nice, too. I must have at least a couple of dozen kinds of plants that have fragrant leaves. I enjoy the pineapple sage while that lasts, too.
It was such a nice day that I decided to go to Longwood Gardens. If there had only been one scooter or so, I wouldn't have used one, but since there were several, I got one. I went to see the roses, and the herb garden, and took a quick trip through the perennial garden.
I didn't want to miss the waterlilies, so I drove the scooter up to the conservatories and made several passes around the waterlily ponds. The waterlilies are gorgeous. I went around through the conservatories. The orchid room is another favorite of mine. The Main Conservatory had cannas among the borders. Some of the flowers in the borders by the paths in the East Conservatory change, and the kinds of flowers in the Main Conservatory change over the seasons. The flowers in the flower boxes and planters around the Exhibition Hall change, too. The big pots by the ballroom(?) had caladiums in them.
Mainly I concentrated on seeing the seasonal outdoor displays you could get to by scooter. The waterlilies are a summer thing, and a lot of the roses continue blooming in later summer. Sometime in September I'll have to see what's blooming in the Hillside Garden.
