Paul Neyron rose 2

Tuesday

And again I stayed up too late.  I don't have anywhere I particulary have to be tomorrow, at least not that I can remember, so that's good.

Later: I woke around 8:30 a.m. for no apparent reason.  I stayed up and had some breakfast, and then went out to do yardwork in the late morning.

I had noticed the lilies and daylilies that I had planted on the left side of the herb garden as you face it, towards the north side of the house, were leaning towards the south, away from the shade of a volunteer sweet shrub and a thick-trunked Tatarian honeysuckle.  I got the loppers and lopped off quite a lot of the hanging-over branches of that Tatarian honeysuckle, and cut down some smaller ones that were growing around the sassafras clump.

While I was at it, I chopped off part of the multiflora rose that hangs near the north side of the house.  I could hear calls of anger or distress from a bird.  When I'd chopped off enough that someone could walk between house and multiflora rose, I saw the cutest little bird's nest among the thicker canes where they made a V-shape.  No wonder a bird was upset with me.

The 'Pinnacle' iris bloomed today.

After dinner, I cut a flower from the 'Blue Staccato' iris and the flower bud from a 'Black Parrot' tulip in the "herb garden."
