Paul Neyron rose 2

Wednesday so far

I went to bed before 1:00 a.m.  It took me a little while to get to sleep, but not long.  I got up at 10:00 a.m., when my alarm went off.

I caught up on Tumblr while sitting under the sunlight-effect lamp.  I reblogged what Triddlegrl and black-john-lennon said about Sam and Mercedes.  I had my thoughts, but I'm not speaking from the perspective of a Black woman.  A couple of other posts about Samcedes said that Mercedes' friends and backup singers, Tesla and Shaynice, were kinder when talking to Mercedes about Sam than they had to be.  Mercedes realized how embarrassing Sam was being.  I thought about her saying to Puck, "You just said about ten offensive things, and I'm getting embarrassed for you."  I was embarrassed for Sam.  He touched Tesla's hair and asked whether the women's hair was a weave or wig, and asked why Black girls were named after cars.  Tesla said she'd been named for the inventor, which was what I had figured.  Sam knew that Mercedes had been named for an actress.

Various bloggers talked about how brave Kurt was, while saying it would have been equally valid and definitely safer for him to have called the police.  Fans have said for a long time how Burt just wants Kurt to be safe and happy.  Burt hoped that Kurt would have that in New York City.  From what I understand, parts of the city are safer than others, but there was a rise in violence against queer people there, even in what are generally the most gay-friendly areas.  Kurt has always been a strong person, though.  I may post some thoughts on Tumblr after a rewatch.

I got a book from one of the Dear Author Daily Deals.  It is an Amish romance.  I like them, although from what I understand, the spiritual aspects are usually not what actual Amish people believe.

I worked on the editing job I got yesterday evening.  I want to turn it in tonight.  I did a good bit of work on it, but I want to read it over one more time.

It was pretty nice out.  I went out in the late afternoon and took pictures of the miniature daffodils and the 'Ice Follies' daffodils blooming in the herb garden.  Some of the roses got through the winter okay, and some died.  The lilacs are fine.  Dad got an electric saw on a pole, and has been sawing up downed trees.  We've got so many piles of branches and logs now.

Later: Mom and Dad and I went out to belatedly celebrate my birthday.  We went to the local Italian place we all like.  I got one of the specials, shrimp piccata.  Mom got eggplant parmesan, and we shared.  I had been wanting eggplant parmesan for a while, and Mom likes veal piccata.  I think she liked the shrimp piccata as well.

Rainjoy posted another chapter of the Three Musketeers Affinity!Verse.  This time it was from Treville's viewpoint.  The impression I get is that Treville is the musketeer captain in the original book.  I assume he's been in movies and on the TV show that inspired Rainjoy's fic.  Treville is very fond of his charge Aramis.  He's trying to learn to trust Porthos to take care of Aramis.  I like Aramis and Porthos' viewpoints, but I think it was important to the story to get the viewpoint of the man looking after them.

Later still: I talked with A. for a while.
