Paul Neyron rose 2

Tuesday so far

I went to bed around 1:00 a.m., and fell asleep easily.  I woke at 9:15 a.m., so that was pretty good.

A college friend of mine, C.K., contacted me to let me know that another college friend, his roommate then, G.L., had passed away.  I've posted about G.L. before, how we would go to malls and gay bars together.  He called me his "shopping hag."  He was one of my best friends in college.

I continued to correspond with black-john-lennon about AAVE and what linguistics books about it I'd read.  She's interested in reading the books.

The free e-book from ARe today is Widdershins by Jordan L. Hawk.  I have a free copy of her book Hainted in my to-be-read files.  I gave several copies of Widdershins as gifts to my Tumblr friends who like m/m romance, and posted about it on the Goodreads Backlot "Gay Books -- What We're Reading" Free Books and Sales thread.  Octobercountry said he'd enjoyed it, and Uly said he'd liked it, too.

Later: It's pretty nice out today.  I may go for a walk in the local park.

I made the inevitable trip to the grocery store and picked up fish for dinner, with broccoli salad to go with it.  Since I was at the salad bar, I got watermelon.

I saw P. and Z.  I waved hi to Z.  I talked to P. for a bit.  She said Ms. F. had had a fall, and was "pretty banged up."  P. still wants to go see her on Thursday.  I told P. to give me a call.

I called P. around 5:30, when I knew she'd be done work.  She said Ms. F. had fractured her knee.  I told P. to tell Ms. F. that I was thinking of her.

I told Mom that G.L. had passed away.  She remembered him.

I watched "Bash."  In some ways it was a really hard episode to watch.

TV watching -- "Bash"

That was a really hard episode to watch, for the Kurt parts.  Burt yelled at Kurt because he was so upset that Kurt had gotten hurt.  I think Kurt understood, though.  Kurt was left beaten up and lying in an alley, and then they cut to a commercial.  It wasn't until a while later that it was made clear that Kurt was going to be okay.

Blaine sang Kurt a song while Kurt was unconscious, and lay beside him on the hospital bed.  Blaine really loves Kurt.

Mercedes and Sam had discussions about race.  Sam was pretty offensive, touching Mercedes' friends' hair and saying offensive things.  In the end, Mercedes decided to date Sam, though.

There was this exchange between Sam and Blaine:

Sam: "I'm telling you, it's really hard to be a straight white male these days."
Blaine: "We should probably change the subject."

Blaine is not straight or white.  (Added: When I first saw Darren Criss, I assumed he was white, but I know little that way.  My experience was in learning about light-skinned people in the Black community.  Those are the stories I know, from racial pride to colorism to ways to choose not to be read as white.  I've seen a number of biracial people say they knew right away that Darren Criss was multiracial.  There are a lot of Asian references around Blaine.)

While Sam was living in the loft, Blaine would read him Star Wars fan fiction.  That was hysterical.

I have a lot of feelings about the episode.  I was waiting for the Kurt and Burt moments.
