Maiden's Blush rose

Sunday -- open house

A place in [Main Line town] that gives cooking lessons was having an open house.  Mom and I went.  There were quite a few people there.  Several were at the work stations, making cookies.  A little while later, the chef had some of the people who were cooking start to make chili.  Mom and I observed and ate some of the kinds of cookies that had already been baked and were on platters around the place.  We had some chili when that was done.  The chef had told the cooks for that to use a whole bottle of chili powder.  The chili wasn't that spicy, but it was strongly flavored.  It was good.

We stayed for an hour or a little more.  We'd brought empty containers with us, and put cookies in them before we left.  I told the chef that maybe I'd take some classes in the new year.  I had taken several a couple of years ago.  I don't know if I took any this past year, but he remembered me.  I said I was still doing editing.  It was nice to get out of the house and socialize a little, and get things to eat.

Slightly later: P. called and we talked for a little while.  She'd worked nine days straight at the grocery store, and said she was pretty tired.  She'll have Christmas day off, and was thinking of going to see her mother.  I wished her and her family a happy holiday, and she wished us the same.

Later: There are a couple more little installments of the Mennoverse, with a mention of shoofly pie.
