Maiden's Blush rose

Thursday -- family

J. and K. and Morris came up from Baltimore.  We had a holiday lunch.  S.M. had dropped off a little box in the mailbox for me without coming up to the house.  When we did presents, I opened that and the presents in the bag she'd given me last time I saw her.  The little box had costume jewelry earrings in it.  The presents in the bag were a necklace with beads that looked like seeds, an egg-shaped and colored ceramic container that I'm a little puzzled about, and a candle.

K. got me earrings, a pendant necklace, a change purse, and a shawl.  The pendant is a glass heart with little colored glass flowers in it.  The shawl is thin, but I figure it's one of those "layers add warmth" things.  I'm wearing it now.  The desktop computer is not that far from a big east window, and the room gets very cold.  They saw I was really going to use the shawl.  It was something I could immediately incorporate into my wardrobe.
I got K. a gift card for Ross Dress for Less and J. an iTunes card.  The iTunes cards are always a hit for him.  K. likes to shop at Ross.

I had gone to bed not long after midnight last night, and I don't think it took me that long to go to sleep.  I woke a little after 8:00 a.m. this morning.  I was getting kind of cranky by noon, especially being around Dad, who was acting particularly in an "Ooh, a shiny object" way with everything on the coffee table.  I had Kahlua and cream with lunch, and I think that helped.  I said once again to Dad that it was never too late to get treatment for Attention Deficit Disorder.  (No, seriously, J. and I are quite sure he has it.)

J. got Dad something that said phrases from Dr. Who, including a couple of Dalek phrases.  I was so not in the mood to hear Daleks, but Dad loved it.  Mom didn't love it, and K. said she'd tried to talk J. out of getting it, but lost.  J. and K. got Mom a Phillies T-shirt.  I don't know where it would have been for sale down in Maryland, but Mom liked it.

I liked my presents.  I'm still trying to figure out the ceramic egg container, but I can wear or use the other things.  J. helped Dad outside, cutting down a tree branch that was hanging over one of our sheds.  It was nice to see J. and K. and Morris.

Later: I called S.M. in the evening.  I was just going to leave a message, but she'd ditched choir practice to wrap presents.  I thanked her for the gifts she'd given me.

Later still: I talked to A. for over an hour, and he caught me up on life in Green Bay.  I caught him up on things here.
