Paul Neyron rose 2

Monday day

I did a couple of errands, including getting gasoline.  At least I have a full tank now.  I went to the grocery store.  I read a bit of L.A. Witt's Nine-Tenths of the Law on my phone.

Then I went to Best Buy and got a Sony PRS-T1 e-reader.  This one is specifically for Dad.  I'm going to try not to touch it except to gift-wrap it.  If anything, I'll load some out-of-copyright boys' adventure story e-pubs on it, but I really don't want to even open it.  It was on sale for $129.99, and I got a year's warranty on it.  I have the receipt and warranty and gift receipt.  With the Kobo Touch I didn't even get a receipt, and that was from a Borders, so if it breaks there's no recourse.  I'm not using it that much, but there are several books on there that I couldn't get onto the Sony e-readers -- or, they didn't show up, anyway.  The idea of deleting off everything but the user's manual, including secure format books I don't have elsewhere, is not really working for me any better in November than it did in July or August.

When I got home, I took the e-reader to my room, then went back downstairs to ask Dad about transplanting a rose from a big ceramic pot to a plastic one.  It turned out not to have much in the way of root system, so it fit quite well into the plastic pot.  It's 'Kronprinzessin Viktoria', the white sport of 'Souvenir de la Malmaison'.  I'm thinking about bringing it inside for the winter.  'Duchesse de Brabant' has several buds.  The tea roses are nothing like dormant.  The rugosa rose's leaves have turned yellow, as in fall-color yellow, so that's much more adapted to a climate with a noticeable winter season.

We put mulch around several roses.  'Mme. Isaac Pereire' has six-foot canes.  I rather expected that.  'Marchioness of Londonderry' is doing pretty well, though it's not that size.  There were a few of the smaller (one-year) roses that we found in what used to be the herb garden.  We mulched them.

I was pleased to get those things done.  I'm not so pleased with myself for getting another e-reader when I should have given Dad the Kobo.  However, the new one is earmarked for him.  I think he'll be able to figure out how to use it better than I would.

I'll do some editing tonight, and watch more of last season's episodes of Glee.
