Paul Neyron rose 2

fall-blooming crocus and roses, cultural event

Yesterday: Went to garden club meeting.  Presentation on how to arrange a floral cornucopia.  Very nice.

Went to Lincoln University to see a speaker, Dr. Morton, give a talk about Abraham Lincoln and the politics concerning slavery.  The university's chamber choir performed -- they're so good.  The talk was very interesting and thought-provoking.  I'm familiar enough with American history that the events and concepts were not new to me, but I gained more of a depth of understanding on the topics, and appreciated some of the insights on power and politics.

Today: Leaves of saffron crocus coming up around 'Mme. Isaac Pereire'.  Bloom on Autumn Damask rose is opening.  Begonias and caladium look really good.  The begonias and geraniums were the most successful plants for me this year as far as looking consistently good most frequently.
