bits more from Saturday

I forgot to put the books I'd gotten yesterday.  Dad was out to the porch before I was, and brought them in.  I'd gotten the new edition of The Ultimate Rose Book as a used book, but it was wrapped in plastic, and except for a little rip at the top of the cover, looks mint.  I may wrap that one as a present.  I got Gardening in the Humid South, because Pennsylvania resembles the humid South in the summer, and I want to try growing more kinds of tender perennials.  We're right on that line where northern plants that need chilling get enough chilling in winter, and some plants that wouldn't be hardy too much further north will survive.

The third one I received today was The Last Thing I Expected.  Since I put it on my wish list in 2007, I am making the educated guess that I didn't know about e-books yet, and thought that Samhain was a publisher that just published trade paperback romances.  There were several months there where I thought that about the publishers I was discovering: Torquere, Loose Id, Samhain and probably others.  I think I was also thrown because the Adrien English Mysteries had originally been published in paperback, and I'd gotten the first three from interlibrary loan.  That's all there were at the time I read them -- three.

I'm puzzled, though, because the one I got today, and had put on my wish list back then, was a straight romance.  Clearly I'd discovered Samhain, but I don't know if I knew at that time that they published gay romance.  Possibly the first Samhain book I got was From the Ashes, an anthology with stories by J.L. Langley, Ally Blue and Willa Okati.  That's where I fell in love with the werewolves, by reading "With Love."  I'm trying to reconstruct when I learned that the books from those publishers had originally been published electronically.
