Later: I don't remember staying up super-late that night, but it might be that I just don't remember. I got up a little before 10:00 a.m.
I got stuff done that I needed to get done in the morning, and made it to an early afternoon appointment a little late, but K.S. got my text about that. Mom and I went out and about in the local shopping area. It was my idea to stop at Whole Foods, where we found some of the things on our general grocery store list. It was a productive enough trip. A cookbook on Vietnamese food said they had a good range of rice noodles there, and they did. However, all I saw were brown rice noodles, and I'm not a fan of brown rice. I'll look for the more typical kinds of rice noodles in an Asian market.
Dad put up our bird feeders yesterday. That was a lively scene this morning. We saw several nuthatches, some tufted titmice, chickadees, a red-bellied woodpecker, a small woodpecker (downy?), a cardinal perching on the shepherd's crook that holds the birdfeeders, house finches or purple finches, and a couple of kinds of sparrows (probably Savannah and chipping sparrows, maybe a song sparrow). I saw a junco on the ground, which means it will be joined tomorrow or so by the six or seven other juncos in the little flock we get in the winter.
